Hi mamas! I'm Jillian, the creator of DouLabour, with love.
I’m a daughter, sister, friend, and forever learner— I also recently became a wife! I’m originally from the States but now live in Geneva. I have a Master's in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
I became interested in becoming a birth doula when I came to a proverbial fork in the road. I always hoped to find a career that supported both my passion for women’s and children’s rights and my deep respect for complementary and alternative health.
After I graduated from my program in 2021, I took some time to reflect on what I wanted to dedicate my life to. I always had a sense of calm taking care of babies and being around pregnant women. I was fascinated by pregnancy and the sacred journey and experience of birth. It felt natural when I changed the course of my life and jumped into the Birth Doula Program with BirthWorks International.
A couple of months into my training, I heard the term Ayurdoula. I realized this certification would allow me to follow and support the mother longer than a traditional birth doula so I started on the Specialized Certification in Ayuvedic Post-Partum Care, with INNER SUN & MOON School of Natural & Holistic Therapeutics.
In line with supporting movement during pregnancy and healing in the postpartum period, I’m happy to be using my 23 years of dance experience to offer stretching and mobility sessions to mamas.
As well as all things birth, I’m a lover of dance, fall teas, essential oils, overdoing and celebrating all US holidays, and most recently taking care of my plant babies.

My personal journey to birthwork……
Birth Philosophy
My mission is to provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support that both nurtures and empowers mama and her partner on their journey to parenthood.
I believe in the power of maternal instinct. I also believe that during pregnancy there are many decisions for mama to make, so my hope is to be someone who complements their intuition by committing to:
Helping navigate English-speaking Geneva; connecting to supportive communities, looking into birth locations, how to afford them, and accessing other pregnancy services
Providing an all-eventualities birth education
Making one feel ‘held’, listened to, respected and empowered throughout pregnancy and beyond
Safeguarding the experience of partners, who can often feel excluded, supporting them to find their unique and critical role during labour
Recognising and respecting the postnatal period as a time for rest, nourishment and, ultimately, healing
